Nina’s self doubt

It was the night before the day when Nina had to present the speech that she had prepared for the occasion of Children’s Day. Nina was selected for the speech as she had written a very beautiful speech for the occasion. She was asked to narrate the speech in front of a large audience that included various high-level people. 

But this was a point of concern for Nina as she had never performed in front of such a large number of people. Once, she narrated a poem in front of her classmates, but that was the only sort of public speaking that she had ever done. Hence, with excitement came a lot of nervousness and anxiety for Nina. 

While in her bed, Nina was unable to sleep as she was constantly thinking about how her speech would be. Suddenly, two angels emerged into her room. One was dressed in white and the other one was dressed in black. They both together asked Nina, “Little child, why are you awake at this hour? What is the thought that is not letting you sleep?” Nina replied, “I have a speech tomorrow in front of a lot of people. It is my first time and I am very nervous.”

To this, the white angel replied, “Oh dear, don’t worry, everything will go fine and you will give a great speech.” The black angel heard this and started laughing loudly and said, “Haha! Stop lying white angel. Nina be careful, your speech will be absolutely bad and people will not like it. You will embarrass yourself in front of so many people and then you will cry in disappointment. So do what I say and don’t give the speech tomorrow.” 

Nina got very scared listening to what the black angel said, she got even more nervous and started doubting whether she should give the speech or not. Then said the white angel, “Nina, don’t listen to the black angel, she is just trying to scare you, and nothing she said will happen. You were selected to give the speech for a reason because what you had put forward had the quality needed to be addressed in front of others. And if you remove all the doubts and fears that you have, and truly believe in yourself, you will deliver a great speech.”

Nina gave serious thought to what the white angel said and concluded that it was right. Her self-confidence was boosted and she yelled, “I can and I will do it!” Hearing this the black angel shouted, “No!” and vanished. The next day Nina delivered a great speech and got a lot of appreciation because of it. Even in her future, she always remembered what the white angel said and never feared speaking in front of others.

What we learned

If we believe in ourselves and what we have to present, then we should never get fear what the black angel says, and always listen to the white angel.
