- Stephan Hawking is known for explaining the origins of the universe and black holes.
- At the age of 21, he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND), and was told that he had only two years to live! However, he dealt with his disease with great patience and lived for another 55 years.
- He did this by having a positive attitude towards life and by rather focusing on accomplishing goals in physics to serve the world.
- Hawking won many medals including the Albert Einstein medal in 1979, and the Wolf Prize in Physics in 1988.
