It was time for the lunch break. Some children were having their lunch while some were playing in the garden. Rohan was playing football with his friends when he suddenly fell to the ground while running. His leg got hurt due to the fall and it was bleeding.
All the children on the ground gathered around Rohan as he was crying badly. Seeing him bleed the other children were also scared and they did not know what to do. The children thought of calling the teacher so that she could come and help Rohan. While some children went to call the teacher, the others were waiting on the ground. Jeremy, who was a friend of Rohan, was also there standing. After some time, when the kids who went to call the teacher did not come back, Jeremy decided to go and help his friend Rohan as he was in a lot of pain. He went near Rohan and asked him not to cry. He took out his handkerchief and wiped it on the wound to clear the dust and stop the bleeding. As Rohan was still crying Jeremy was thinking of what to do next to help him. While thinking, he remembered that once his teacher had told him in class where the first-aid room was, and how the children could go there if they were not feeling well or if they were hurt. As soon as Jeremy remembered this, he helped Rohan stand up and took him to the first-aid room.
When they got to the room, the nurse, looking at Rohan’s injury, asked what had happened. Jeremy told her about what happened on the ground and asked her to help Rohan. The nurse treated Rohan’s injury and he stopped crying as his pain was relieved. After some time the teacher came and understood the situation. When she found out that Jeremy helped Rohan to come to the first-aid room, she praised Jeremey for doing so. Even the nurse appreciated Jeremy’s effort. The teacher asked all the children to clap for Jeremy for his helpful act. She told the children that in such conditions they should try to help their friends if they could.
When Rohan’s parents came and got to know about what happened, they also thanked Jeremy for helping him. At home, when Jeremy’s mom found the stained handkerchief she got concerned and asked Jeremy about it curiously. He told her about what happened in school. Knowing this, his mother got very happy and praised him for helping his friend. Even the friendship that Jeremy and Rohan shared got stronger after this incident.
So, if you are met with such a situation, will you try to help your friend or the person in need?
