We all know about Dora the Explorer! You may also have learned Spanish from this young girl while watching all her adventures. Here are some fun facts about this little explorer:
- Did you know that Dora’s name comes from the feminine spanish word for explorer, which is “exploradora”. Nickelodeon purposely made Dora a mysterious character so that kids from all Latin backgrounds could see themselves in her. Through Dora, we can see the importance of rooting to our own cultures.
- Dora The Explorer show is played all over the world in over 151 markets and played in 31 languages! How cool is that!
- The first Spanish word that Dora taught to her viewers was the word “azul” which means the color blue.
