Jane Goodall is a famous primatologist (someone who studies and learns about monkeys, gorillas, chimpanzees, etc.) known for studying wild chimpanzees in Tanzania for a long time. Here are some fun facts about Goodall:
- She started the world’s longest running wildlife research project back in 1960: The Gombe Chimp Observation. Here she found out that chimps can use tools to do various tasks just like humans!
- Improving overall animal welfare being one of her main motives, Goodall founded the Jane Goodall Institute for Wildlife Research, Education, and Conservation in 1977. She believed that animals, especially primates, should be protected at all costs.
- The Jane Goodall Institute now has chapters in 24 countries ranging from the US to the United Arab Emirates!
