Exams were over and the summer holidays had already started. Tanya was enjoying her vacation playing with her friends and spending time with her parents.
Once, when Tanya was having dinner with her parents, she said “The vacation is about to be over, let us go on a trip!” Her dad replied, “Yes! Let us go somewhere. Tanya, where should we go?” Tanya started thinking of places, her mom said, “Let us go to a hill station or a beach to get relief from this weather.” Tanya replied, “We have gone there many times, let us go somewhere new”. Her dad said “Tanya, your grandma had told me to take you to meet her sometime. So why don’t we go to our village? You’ve never been there, you will have a lot of fun”. Tanya instantly said yes to the plan as she felt very excited to see a village for the first time.
Tanya and her parents prepared and left for the village. On reaching the village, Tanya noticed that as compared to the city, there were much fewer buildings and houses, and much more greenery. She saw beautiful mountains and rivers along the way and farms that had various crops. As she entered her village, she saw houses made of wood with tiles as roofs, until now she had seen such houses only in movies. Tanya reached her grandma’s place and as she got out of the car she got the smell of fresh soil. She greeted her grandma and went inside the home where she saw beautiful handmade paintings on the walls. It was lunchtime, Tanya saw that there was no dinner table, they had to sit on the floor and have the food. The food was presented on a copper plate and included various seasonal vegetables and fruits that were grown on their farm. After having lunch, Tanya went out with her grandma to explore the village. She observed various types of trees, people farming, and lots of domestic animals like cows and buffalos, and also saw many ladies preparing food on an earthen stove.
She noticed that the lifestyle of people living in the village is completely different from people who live in cities. As a city is more developed, it is much more crowded, chaotic, and noisy whereas a village is more peaceful, natural, and relaxed. Tanya understood these differences and accepted that every place is beautiful in its own right. Exploring her village was a lovely experience for Tanya and she got to know and learn a lot as well. She thanked her parents for the wonderful trip once they were back home.
What did we learn
