Do you know who invented the light bulb? That’s right! It was Thomas Edison. Here are some fun facts to share about Edison:
- Thomas Edison was a self-made physicist, inventor, and businessman who held around 1000 patents for his inventions.
- At the age of 12, Thomas developed hearing loss due to various diseases. He was deaf in one ear and nearly deaf in the other. Despite suffering through his childhood, Edison was able to invent useful items like safety fuses and on/off switches. He devoted himself to be very creative and think out of the box! In fact, he claimed that his poor hearing skills helped him concentrate.
- Thomas did not do well in school and ended up being homeschooled by his mother. It was at this time when he used his own creativity to eventually make new inventions. That turned out really well!
